Plant Description

Quercus × megaleia is a hybrid oak tree, resulting from the cross between Quercus macrocarpa (bur oak) and Quercus lobata (valley oak). This tree typically exhibits a large, spreading canopy with lobed leaves that combine the features of both parent species. The leaves are glossy green, with a distinctive, irregular lobed margin, and can reach up to 20 cm in length. It produces acorns that are larger than those of many other oaks, a trait inherited from Quercus macrocarpa. This hybrid oak is well-suited to a range of soil types and is drought-tolerant once established.
