Pinus mugo, commonly called Mountain Pine or Dwarf Pine, is a low-growing, evergreen conifer native to high-altitude regions of Central and Southern Europe. It forms dense, spreading shrubs or small trees with short, dark green needles arranged in pairs and rugged, twisted branches. Its cones are small, oval, and brown, maturing over two years. Adapted to windy, rocky slopes, this species is prized for its compact growth, resilience, and suitability in rock gardens, bonsai, and alpine landscaping.
